A dining disappointment. A befuddled female bartender playing nice to the local neighborhood patrons who seemed to linger on every word of her naive wisdom. Comical. I ordered stuffies (stuffed clams) that were literally the size of 1/2 dollars. They were moist but had very few clams and not tasty. The monk fish and lobster baked dish was dry and tasteless with very little lobster. Very few waitresses to serve the large bar and the restaurant. Bottom line - go to many of the local restaurants in East Bay for a much better dining experience. Disappointed and unimpressed.
Food is always fresh, lots of locally sourced ingredients, many daily specials that keep the menu interesting. Open kitchen with chefs in action. Owner is warm and welcoming. Staff friendly and attentive. Great service. Gem of a restaurant with high ceilings and windows overlooking the water right outside. Cozy. Highly recommended.
Awesome Seafood, Woodfired Grilled
Though the food at this restaurant is very good, it is not worth having to deal with the waitresses that work here. i have been here twice to give it a second chance after the utter disaster i dealt with the first time. The waitresses were a hot mess and seem to order around the younger staff members quite rudely. The first time i ate here, the waitress seemed to have forgotten about my table and went on to stand around and do nothing. I came back with hopes i wouldn't get her again, instead i got worse. The woman that waited on my table was very rude and snapped at me for requesting little things such as adjustments on the meal. Throughout my meal i could see her getting very aggravated with her coworkers and seemed to take her stress out on them.Sadly I cant recall their names but unless something is done about these waitresses i will not recommend this restaurant to my friends and will certainly not be returning.
Tav-Vino makes wonderful food but the restaurant is poorly managed so its almost impossible to eat there. I went on a Wednesday night and all the staff walked by us without greeting us. All except one who said "what is going on tonight?"with a look of dissatisfaction at the fact that people were walking in. We finally pulled someone aside and asked if we could be seated. There were several empty tables in the restaurant. She said she didn't know if there was a wait or not.I asked if there was a host. She said that there never was. She told me she was just a waitress and couldn't seat us because of the wait that the restaurant maybe had. she wasn't sure of what was going on. No one seemed to know what was happening. When I said "I think they are overwhelmed perhaps we should go somewhere else she said "yeah thanks. See you next time." I am happy to wait for a table but they had several available but no one managing the floor and the very overwhelmed poorly trained waitstaff. I have worked in restaurants for more than 12 years as a waiter. I'm not sure how this place can function this way. The kitchen makes great food but unfortunately I won't be back to enjoy it.
